Dreamdisk Revision 1.1 - Available for release soon !

Post by johnhalk »

Hi All,

Dreamdisk revision 1.1 will be available for release soon on Github (PCB Gerber Files etc.).

Updates -
- Added connector for Microbee host Z80 bus pinouts (X3).
- Added C22 470 PF for 2mhz clock smoothing fix.
- Prototype Jumper for *RD and BUSDIR removed from PCB (M1 jumper pad remains).
- Added PCB visuals for Centre Positive on DC Jack, labeled connectors and added Sorcerer / Microbee logo and revision 1.1 number.
- Updated PCB footprint for R5 - Multi-turn pot.

If you need to connect 8" Floppy Drives - you can use an 8" 50 way to 5.25" 34 way adapter like this one:

1. Somewhere to connect ground during calibration and testing would be useful. Say a 1.6mm diameter hole between R6 and C4 where you could mount a nice test pin such as linked below or at least a loop of wire. That gives you a free hand to hold either the board or a screwdriver :D

I like this style from Keystone https://au.mouser.com/new/keystone/keys ... est-points

2. It my habit to have power LED as well as a first level sanity check.

3. A footprint for a 2 pin Molex connector behind the power socket would provide an alternative way of connecting power for people who are not fans of DC barrel connectors. That could alternatively provide a point to tap power and ground to daisychain to a Berg connector for a Gotek which is what I imagine most people will use as their floppy drive.

Here is the new version 1.1 PCB Update:

https://github.com/RetroStack/Sorcerer_DreamDisk

While officially this new PCB version 1.1 update has not been tested as yet - it should work fine on the sorcerer (as the v1.0 has been tested).

The Microbee z80 bus host connector does require testing.
