I have two Sorcerers in my collection that are both largely working now, mainly thanks to the excellent collection of documentation on this forum here.
The first one was given to me by a good friend who saved it from a rubbish tip of all places!! It was in pretty poor shape when I got it and it still needs some TLC to finish it off, but at least its functional now.
It's a Model 2 that has been upgraded to 48k and Scuamon 64. Also an S100 expansion unit, RAM expansion, disk controller and 2 5.25" hard sectored floppy drives.
Aside from some faulty RAM and and the cosmetic issues, this one took very little effort to get running. I wish I could say the same about the S100 and floppy drives though, as I think I've reached the limit of my ability to get them working properly.
The second one is a Model 1 that has some pretty funky mods expanding it to 48k as well. While it's much nicer cosmetically it was a bit of a bear to get working. It had a shorted cap on the 12v rail that took out the voltage regulator. After sorting that out it was working very intermittently which was sorted by reseating most of the socketed chips. The whole board was covered in some sort of oily residue which may have been contributing to the poor connections. The other issue with that machine was garbage on the screen from a faulty 2114 screen RAM that had to be replaced, but now this one is mostly functional as well.
